Rules and Helpful Hints
for Participating Charities

RULES FOR PARTICIPATING CHARITIES

Every manual donation accepted directly by the charity must be accompanied by a manual donation form from the donor.

All donations must be assigned to an individual, not a company or foundation.

Every donor must make a Birdies Guess and answer a Tie-Breaker Question in order for their donation to be an eligible entry on a charity's Donation Report Form.

Charities may not assign Birdies Guesses for donors.

Capital Campaign donations are allowable when accompanied by completed Manual Donation Form.

Government Grants and Foundation Grants are not eligible Birdies for Charity donations.

Membership Dues and existing Pre-arranged donations are not eligible Birdies for Charity donations.

PGA TOUR reserves the right to audit charity's records related to Birdies for Charity to verify compliance with these rules.

HELPFUL HINTS FOR PARTICIPATING CHARITIES

Choose a “Big Bird”
The Big Bird is your Birdies for Charity campaign organizer, manager, and head cheerleader. The success of your campaign depends on the Big Bird getting organized, recruiting helpers, and encouraging the helpers to sustain the campaign commitment until its conclusion.

Recruit “Little Birds”
Consider your board members, your staff, and your volunteers when looking for Little Birds. Their primary task is to solicit donations from their friends, family and co-workers.

It’s all about numbers. If your Big Bird recruits 20 Little Birds and each of those Little Birds solicits 10 donations, that equates to 200 participants in your campaign. That is an easy $4,000 for your organization if each participant makes the minimum donation of $20.

Are you shorthanded? Consider recruiting a civic organization, a school club, or your Sunday school class to act as Little Birds on your behalf.

Timeline
Remember that January 7 is the first day that donations will be accepted, and that Wednesday, May 8 is the FINAL day that donations can be made.
